Find Your Best Rest at the 5 Best Sleep Clinics in Auckland

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.
  • Reputation: We spoke with patients of these sleep clinics and looked at online reviews to assess whether the clinics were effective.
  • Services Offered: We verified if they offered sleep studies, diagnoses, different treatment options, and follow-up care.
  • Accessibility: We considered the location and operating hours to ensure they fit the needs of people with busy schedules.
  • Patient Care: We looked for clinics that prioritized clear communication and patient support. This included evaluating staff responsiveness, clarity in explaining treatment options, and overall care quality.

My New Year’s resolution was to be in bed by 10 pm—a pretty reasonable goal, right? But then, there I am, staring at the ceiling and doom-scrolling instead of drifting off because my brain just won’t shut down.

Sound familiar? Or maybe you’ve battled with sleep apnea, insomnia, or restless legs syndrome for years. Whatever your sleep struggles are, let’s be honest—getting a good night’s sleep is necessary for a healthy life.

So, wanting a good night’s rest is what led me to ask the rest of the Auckland Magazine team to help me interview various sleep clinics.

Here’s who made it onto our list.

How much does it cost to get treated at a sleep clinic in Auckland?

It costs at least 150 NZD to get treated at a sleep clinic in Auckland.

This is just an estimate. The actual price will vary depending on the severity of your sleep problem, the treatment, and more.

The Better Sleep Clinic really impressed us with their holistic approach to sleep and mental health. They don’t just treat insomnia; they delve into the complex connection between sleep problems and overall well-being.

Their emphasis on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) was remarkable. Many clinics jump straight to medication, but we appreciate that the Better Sleep Clinic prioritizes a natural, long-lasting solution.

Their approach has helped many people dramatically improve their sleep and reduce anxiety.

Their understanding of circadian rhythm disorders and knowledge of parasomnias was also reassuring. It’s clear they address the full spectrum of sleep disturbances.

We also appreciated that the staff were empathetic and patient. They’re genuine in helping people deal with their sleep patterns, including restless legs syndrome.

Their online platform was convenient and user-friendly, making it easy to access resources and schedule an appointment.

While the scheduling flexibility was a plus, it sometimes resulted in longer wait times for appointments than many would have liked.

Pros

  • Holistic approach
  • Wide expertise
  • Emphasis on CBT-I
  • Empathetic staff
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Convenient online platform

Cons

  • Longer wait times

Provides thorough progressive weekly plan

“I reached out to Dan after 1 year insomnia paired with worsening anxiety, I didn’t believe in therapy for insomnia at start, but it did change my life way faster than I expected. I have finally resumed my normal sleeping pattern with Dan’s help, he provided practical toolkit to help me manage my emotions and progressively adjust the plan every week. I was able to use those tools till now and never feel anxious about sleeping again. Thank you and highly recommend :)”

Ensures a highly relevant and entertaining discussion

“Dan recently gave a highly relevant, entertaining and informative presentation to our organisation on the science behind sleep, what influences sleep and the things we can all do to help improve the quality of our sleep.  Dan’s style and knowledge had everyone captivated and we all left with a greater understanding of the importance of sleep on our lives, and armed with ways we can improve our own sleep. I highly recommend Dan as an expert in this area and would recommend reaching out to him if you’re having any kind of issues around sleep.  I have no doubt that he will be able to help you.”

Operating Hours: Monday to Friday – 9 AM to 5 PM

EdenSleep Auckland’s holistic approach to sleep apnea is impressive. They look at the whole picture, not just diagnosing the problem. This is evident in their equipment and treatment options.

Their use of a variety of Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machines is equally impressive. These include fixed-pressure and auto-adjusting models, as well as portable options like the AirMini.

The choice between different models, such as the AirSense 10 and 11 series, also allows for a personalized selection.

However, many felt that more detailed instructions on sleep mask types and fitting would have been helpful. This information could have been better addressed during the initial consultation.

Even so, we appreciate that they offer the ResMed EZ subscription for affordable payments and the option of a convenient home sleep study.

Pros

  • Holistic approach
  • Wide variety of CPAP machines
  • Personalized equipment options
  • Affordable payment plans
  • Convenient home sleep study

Cons

  • Lack of guidance on mask types

Incredibly kind, patient and knowledgeable staff

“I want to thank Eleanor from EdenSleep Parnell for her amazing service and support! If you suffer from sleep apnea, drowsiness, fatigue or bad and restless sleep than book in a consultation with Eleanor! She was incredibly kind, patient and her knowledge and expertise made it super easy as she recommended everything I needed and made sure they were the right fit for me too!!  She definitely knows her stuff and can answer any question. She takes the time to thoroughly talk you through your options and gave great support during my CPAP therapy use as well. I can’t recommend her enough. Go see her and she will change your life!!”

We value that NZ Respiratory & Sleep Institute conducts thorough sleep studies and explains the results clearly.

They offer a range of top-notch testing options, from in-lab studies to home-based monitoring. This flexibility caters to different needs and preferences.

We also appreciate the variety of treatment options for snoring and sleep apnea they offer. These include pressure treatment with nasal Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP), dental devices, and upper airway surgery.

Their light therapy for Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and circadian rhythm problems is even more remarkable.

However, we were disappointed to learn that scheduling the initial consultation took a bit longer than expected. As a result, some people experienced slight delays in getting started with treatment.

Still, many really appreciate the supportive staff. They were always helpful during follow-up appointments and in monitoring progress.

Pros

  • Thorough sleep studies
  • Flexible testing options
  • Variety of treatment options
  • Innovative light therapy
  • Supportive staff

Cons

  • Consultation scheduling delay

Auckland Sleep impressed us with their truly holistic approach to sleep problems. We loved how they brought together a team of sleep specialists, therapists, and surgeons, all working together under one roof.

We appreciate the detailed sleep studies. The staff explained everything so clearly, which is a five out of five on our book. It allowed us to thoroughly understand the actual source of the problem.

Plus, their treatment options are diverse and cater to individual needs. We liked the custom-fitted Mandibular Advancement Devices (MADs) for their comfort and effectiveness.

Moreover, Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) and Automatic Positive Airway Pressure (APAP) therapies are a breeze. Many patients who tried these options found them highly effective.

The only downside is the reported admin errors, such as double-booked appointments and extra billing charges.

Pros

  • Holistic approach
  • Comprehensive sleep studies
  • Clear communication
  • Diverse treatment options
  • Personalized CPAP/APAP support

Cons

  • Extra billing charges
  • Double-booked appointments

Patiently explains all the metrics

“I’ve been suffering from poor sleep for quite a while and decided to try Brief Behavioural Treatment for Insomnia, since I didn’t manage to improve the quality of my sleep on my own. Over the course of four sessions, Anitha guided me through a variation of behavioural adjustments and patiently explained all the metrics I needed to record to quantify changes. After four sessions, my situation improved measurably, and I started to feel a lot more awake during the day. I’ve also got a nice toolkit to use in case I start struggling to sleep well again. I’m very happy with the outcome.”

Professional and knowledgeable team

“I’ve had nothing but fantastic service from the entire team at Auckland Sleep. Dr Samant has always showed me the respect of explaining the surgical side of things very clearly, and I felt extremely well looked after during my surgeries. Pratiksha was really professional and knowledgable when it came to the sleep study and CPAP side of things. Besides giving me good information and options, she was also always fun to meet with. Highly recommend these guys.”

We really liked Sleep Well Clinic’s focus on personalized care. They genuinely tailor their services to each person’s needs.

This was clear right from the start, as they carefully looked at our sleep habits and lifestyles to get a deeper understanding of the real problem.

We were even more impressed by the range of sleep tests available. These tests are backed by their top-notch equipment.

The clinic was also well-organized and comfortable, with appointments easy to schedule.

Additionally, the staff were fantastic. They were always professional and understanding, and they were glad to answer all our questions.

Be aware that booking can be challenging, though. This experience can be frustrating, especially when you need to schedule appointments quickly.

Aside from that, their prices aren’t cheap. If you have a limited budget, it might be best to look for other alternatives.

Pros

  • Personalized care
  • Comprehensive sleep tests
  • Well-organized clinic
  • Professional staff

Cons

  • Booking challenge
  • High costs

Prompt, kind, and efficient service

“I have been using CPAP through the Sleepwell clinic for nearly a year now, and to be honest I have been flabbergasted by the high level of service that is offered, and the overwhelming sincere kindness that every interaction has generated.  Everyone bends over backwards to solve every problem.  This is true for the staff in the central  clinic in Christchurch, but also equally true for the staff in the Nelson clinic.  I use both types of CPAP machine, the stationary and the travelling so have generated a range of problems and questions, all of which have been dealt with promptly, kindly, and efficiently.  The level of service goes way beyond what I would expect from a health service provider.  In the latest instance, they telephoned me to see how things were going.  I mentioned a slight problem, which was immediately dealt with. Amazing. thank you. Duncan”

Fantastic to deal with

“Fantastic to deal with, and Liz is very understanding and replies very quickly. Any spare parts for your CPAP ordered arrive very promptly as I snapped my mask one night and it arrived the next day which was a Saturday (I find it unbearable to sleep without the CPAP, Ive had the best nights sleep ever since using it and so has my partner) so getting it that quickly was very crucial to me – Fully recommended top rated service!”
